My Father's Flowers

Is a reminder of the struggles my father faced as a child and the hard work that bloomed into his success in America. This oil painting is inspired by a picture taken by a military group passing by my father’s hometown, Huajimic. A vase of white flowers symbolizes the childhood innocence he lost to manual labor to survive. The bricks at his feet represent the work he did as a construction worker in America. Through this painting, I honor my father’s transition and achievement of escaping extreme poverty to owning his own house in America.
